ARE THERE ANY RESTRICTIONS AFTER MY EXAM?

CAN I EAT OR DRINK PRIOR TO MY EXAM?

CAN I GET MY IMAGES OR RESULTS FROM YOU, OR HAVE YOU SEND MY RESULTS TO ANOTHER DOCTOR?


  • Answer:  You may request copies of your images and radiology report/results. These can either be mailed to you or copies can be picked up at our front desk. Please call ahead to request the records and reduce your wait time at 309‐743‐0445. Your results may be sent to another provider in addition to your ordering physician, just request this at your time of service or call us at a later date to request the information be forwarded. Please refer to our Exam Results and Records Request page for more info.


CAN I TAKE MY REGULAR MEDICATIONS PRIOR TO MY APPOINTMENT?

CAN MY PORT OR PICC LINE BE USED FOR MY PET/CT INJECTION?


  • Answer:  No. IV Access must be obtained for high quality imaging.


DO I HAVE TO SCHEDULE AN APPOINTMENT FOR AN X‐RAY?


  • Answer:  No, X‐rays are walk in only. Be sure you have an order, your insurance information, and a photo ID.


DO I NEED TO HAVE AN ORDER FOR MY SCREENING MAMMOGRAPHY?


  • Answer:  No order is required for Screening Mammograms, though we do ask for a providers name to send the results of the exam.


DO YOU DO GENDER REVEAL OB ULTRASOUNDS?


  • Answer:  No we do not. However, we do offer the 4D Ultrasounds during 26‐32 weeks gestation which allows you to see your baby’s face for the first time!


HOW LONG IS THE WAIT FOR AN X‐RAY?


  • Answer:  On average the wait time is 15 minutes, depending on the amount of walk-in patients.


HOW LONG WILL MY EXAM TAKE?


  • Answer:  That varies depending on the type of exam. Please refer to the exam Procedure page, contact our office, or contact your provider for more information.


HOW MUCH IS THE 3D TOMOSYNTHESIS MAMMOGRAPHY?


  • Answer:  That varies depending on your health insurance plan. You should always contact your insurance to verify coverage before your exam. If your insurance doesn't cover 3D Tomosynthesis, then there may an additional fee. You will be informed of any costs you may be responsible for at your time of service. Any non-covered charges are your responsibility. You are not required to have 3D Tomo and can decline the use of 3D Tomo when you check‐in.


I AM ALLERGIC TO IODINATED CONTRAST. WILL MY PET/CT INJECTION CONTAIN IODINE?


  • Answer:  No. PET/CT imaging does not use iodinated contrast. You will be injected with FDG‐F18, a glucose analog that is taken by high‐glucose suing cells such as brain, brown adipocytes, kidney, and cancer cells.


I AM CLAUSTROPHOBIC. WILL YOU BE GIVING ME MEDICATION TO HELP?


  • Answer:  No. You need to call your provider to prescribe you medication.

WHAT DOES THE "X" IN X‐RAY MEAN?


  • Answer:  A German physicist, Wilhelm Roentgen, discovered a new form of radiation in 1895. He called it X radiation because he didn't know what it was. This mysterious radiation had the ability to pass through many materials that absorb visible light. X‐rays also have the ability to knock electrons loose from atoms. Over the years these exceptional properties have made X‐rays useful in many fields, such as medicine and research into the nature of the atom. (source:  http://chandra.harvard.edu/blog/node/62)


WHAT IS THE BARIUM FOR?


  • Answer:  Barium is the liquid contrast we use to highlight areas of the body, which result in a higher quality image of the GI tract. We recommend that water be increased during the 24‐48 hours after your exam to help the barium move through the GI tract smoothly.


WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN THE REGULAR MAMMOGRAPHY AND THE 3D TOMOSYNTHESIS MAMMOGRAPHY?


  • Answer:  3D Tomosynthesis Mammography allows for greater accuracy for earlier and easier detection. It has been shown to improve breast cancer detection by 27- 50% and has been shown to lower recall rates by 17‐40%.


WHAT IS THE IV CONTRAST FOR?


  • Answer:  IV Contrast (x‐ray dye, iodine) highlights specific areas of the body for a higher quality image.


WHAT SHOULD I WEAR TO MY EXAM?


  • Answer:  This will vary based on your exam. But a general rule of thumb is to wear warm and comfortable clothes with no metal (for example: no zippers, buttons, or grommets). You should also avoid wearing jewelry or other metal accessories as they may need to be removed prior to your exam. Leave your valuables at home or locked and hidden in your vehicle.


WHEN WILL I GET MY RESULTS?


  • Answer:  We strive to have reports completed within 24‐48 hours unless prior imaging is needed for your exam, in which case it may take longer. Your ordering provider can then share with you the results and discuss them in detail. Every provider’s office has different procedures and turnaround time for discussing results of exams, so please reach out to your provider for more information. Our staff is not able to discuss the specifics of the results with you or give you a diagnosis.


WHERE ARE YOU LOCATED?


  • Answer:  We are located right up the hill on 7th Street by UnityPoint Health – Trinity Moline. Turn left at the lights onto Valley View Drive. We are in the first building on the right and located on the lower level.


WHO LOOKS AT MY IMAGES?


  • Answer:  One of our specially trained and Board Certified Radiologists from Advanced Radiology, SC will study the images of your test and send a final written report to your ordering provider. You will receive a bill for the Radiologist services in addition to a bill from Advanced Imaging Center.


WHY DO I NEED TO BRING MY INSURANCE CARD AND ID FOR EVERY VISIT?


  • Answer:  This is to verify your insurance coverage and identity. Insurance information changes quiet often and we want to ensure your claims are sent to the appropriate insurance to prevent any billing issues. We require an ID at the time of service to verify the name on your insurance matches the name on your ID, and to ensure yours and our other patients’ privacy is protected, and to prevent health insurance fraud.


WHY DO I NEED TO HAVE A FULL BLADDER?


  • Answer:  Depending on the test that you are scheduled for, it allows for better visualization and also helps hydrate you for the use of contrast agents.


WILL THERE BE ANY ADVERSE REACTIONS TO MY PET/CT INJECTION?


  • Answer:  No. There have been no adverse reactions recorded to date.


DO YOU ACCEPT MY INSURANCE?


  • Answer:  Yes! We accept all health insurance plans. However, it is your responsibility to call your insurance to verify that we are an in network provider for your plan. Any non‐covered or out of network charges are your responsibility.


WILL MY INSURANCE PAY FOR MY EXAM?


  • Answer:  You should contact your insurance company to determine what your insurance covers. Please keep in mind that while some exams require preauthorization or pre‐notification, that is not a guarantee your exam will be paid by your insurance. Any non‐covered charges are your responsibility.


WHY DID I RECEIVE TWO BILLS?


  • Answer:  Imaging exams will typically result in two bills. You will receive one from the imaging center or facility for the technical component, or the actual scan itself. You will also receive another one from Advanced Radiology for the professional interpretation of the exam by a Radiologist, or the reading fee.


WHO CAN I TALK TO ABOUT MY BILL?
